In 1973 Roger James Merlet, a passionate entrepreneur, started to design and manufacture Pointe shoes. This began the brand Merlet.

Working very closely with major professionals of the dance industry, Merlet was able to offer products of the highest quality. These products, both traditional and innovative, allowed the company to develop a major international following in the 1990's
